Plus is TextNow's wireless plan with unlimited talk, text, and browse data, and it's completely ad-free. It includes everything you get with Ad-Free+ today, so once you've made the switch you won't need both subscriptions. This article walks you through it.
Why do I need to cancel Ad-Free+ first?
Your Ad-Free+ subscription is billed through Apple or Google, not TextNow, so we can't cancel it for you. If auto-renew stays on, you'd end up paying for both subscriptions at the same time. Turning off auto-renew before you switch makes sure that doesn't happen.
How do I switch to Plus?
1. In the TextNow app, go to My Plan and choose the Plus option that fits you best:
- Plus Weekly Plan: unlimited talk, text, and data. Renews weekly.
- Plus Monthly Plan: unlimited talk, text, and data. Renews monthly.
2. If your Ad-Free+ subscription still has auto-renew turned on, the app will let you know and point you to the right place to turn it off.
3. Turn off auto-renew for Ad-Free+:
- On iPhone (iOS): go to Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > TextNow, then turn off auto-renew for Ad-Free+.
- On Android: open the Google Play Store > tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > TextNow, then tap Cancel subscription.
4. Head back to the TextNow app and tap Check again.
5. Once you're all clear, follow the on-screen steps to activate your plan on your phone.
6. Add your payment details and confirm. That's it, you're on Plus.
PLEASE NOTE: The weekly and monthly Plus plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from My Plan. |
What's included with Plus?
Plus gives you unlimited nationwide talk and text, unlimited data, and an ad-free app experience. Each option comes with an allotment of full-speed data (5GB on Weekly, 20GB on Monthly). After that, speeds are reduced for the rest of your pass or billing period, but the TextNow app itself always runs at full speed, so your calls and texts aren't affected.
What if the app says I can't switch yet?
It can take a little while for your Ad-Free+ change to come through after you turn off auto-renew. Give it a few minutes, then tap Check again.
