At TextNow, we understand that not everybody uses the internet for good. Often, the anonymity provided by internet services can result in abusive behaviour, such as impersonation.
If you believe a TextNow number is being used to impersonate you or that a TextNow user is impersonating someone else, please reach out to abuse@textnow.com with the phone number being used as well as the date and time that calls and/or messages were received.
You can also block this number from contacting you. TextNow allows both TextNow users and non-TextNow users to block TextNow phone numbers. To do this simply text #STOP to any TextNow number you would like to block. #STOP will work on TextNow numbers and non-TextNow numbers equally. Please see this article for more information.
If you represent a company and believe that a TextNow user is fraudulently claiming to be a representative of your company, please reach out to abuse@textnow.com from your company email address with the phone number being used as well as the date and time that the calls and/or messages were reported.
It is important to note that while TextNow takes incidents of impersonation and fraud very seriously, we will not share any user information without valid lawful process, such as a subpoena.
TextNow also has processes in place to work with law enforcement should you decide to report this incident to your local law enforcement agency. You can direct the officer(s) to lawenforcement@textnow.com where our team will be happy to provide them with information about our processes to obtain user information.
