We understand that not everybody uses the Internet for good. Often the anonymity provided by internet services can result in abusive or harassing behaviour – everything from receiving unwanted texts or calls to fraudulent or otherwise illegal behaviour.
TextNow allows TextNow users to block phone numbers. To do this simply text #STOP to any number you would like to block. #STOP will only work on TextNow numbers; to block a non TextNow number, please follow the instructions on your device, or contact your carrier. You can also report incidents of fraud and harassment to abuse@textnow.com. Please ensure you provide us with the phone number and date the number contacted you.
If you are a TextNow user and would like to report spam, you can do so directly within the app. Please see this article for more information about how to do this.
We encourage you to report serious cases of harassment or abusive behaviour to your local law enforcement agency. TextNow has processes in place to work with law enforcement to disclose user information in response to lawful process (e.g. subpoena). You can direct the officer(s) to lawenforcement@textnow.com where our team will be happy to provide them with information about our processes to obtain user information.
It is important to note that while TextNow takes incidents of harassment and fraud very seriously, we will not share any user information without valid lawful process, such as a subpoena.
