Yes! TextNow supports verification codes. The following plans and subscriptions support receiving verification codes:
At this time our Free WiFi-only service accounts do not support verification codes.
I have a subscription but I'm not getting verification codes. What do I do?
Some services do not support TextNow numbers for verification or for setting up 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication). If you're having trouble receiving a receive verification code (or short codes) please reach out to that company's support and verify if they support TextNow.
If the app you're trying to verify does support VoIP numbers but the code isn't coming through we recommend trying a voice call instead.
Do you support WhatsApp numbers?
Unfortunately, WhatsApp has decided not to support free TextNow numbers. WhatsApp will work for users on our Nationwide Talk and Text users, or anyone with our 2GB or 5GB data add-ons.
Why do I have to pay for verification codes?
Our mission is to provide everyone with an affordable way to communicate. Because we have access to a limited inventory of phone numbers, we recycle inactive numbers tied to our free WiFi service. If your number is released due to inactivity, you may have issues accessing online accounts tied to that number. By buying Lock In Number (or any of our other subscriptions listed above) you are ensuring that your number will stay on your account even if you don't use it every day.
Why is this more secure?
We place a high value on the safety and privacy of all of our users, and securing your number reduces the risk of losing your number (that may potentially be linked to other personal accounts), and addresses further industry-wide fraud concerns.
Our platform is meant to offer an affordable means of communication for people and we want to keep providing that value for our customers in a secure way.
If you have questions or concerns about your service of receiving verifications codes our agents are available every day to help you with any questions you might have. Our chat hours are 10am-5:30pm (Eastern), every day. Just look for the little purple bubble at the bottom of any Help Centre page.
PRO TIP: For the best experience visit us on a different device other than the device that you're contacting us about. That way we can troubleshoot without risking losing the chat.
