If your account has been limited, you'll receive a message from TextNow saying that your usage has violated our Terms of Use.
A limited account means you won't be able to send text messages or make calls for the given duration, with the exception that calls made to 9-1-1 emergency services will always be allowed no matter your account status. You'll still be able to receive texts and incoming calls, but you'll see an error message if you try to send messages or make an outgoing call.
What is an account limitation?
Accounts may be limited for engaging in any activities that fall outside of our Terms of Use. TextNow's free wireless plan is for personal use only, and using it for commercial or business use can result in account limitations.
Accounts might also be limited due to suspected spam behavior, such as:
- Sending harmful links
- Sending lots of repetitive messages
- Sending large blocks of text to many people at once
What can I do if my account has been limited?
You'll have to wait out the length of the limitation before you can regain full access to texting and calling. After your account limitation has expired, be careful to not use TextNow's services for anything that goes against our Terms of Use.
As we work to decrease the number of spam calls and texts you receive, sometimes legitimate users can get caught in our spam filter. If you haven't engaged in any of the behaviors listed above and you think you were limited by mistake, our support team can help you over live chat. Our chat hours are 10am-5:30pm (Eastern), every day. Just look for the little purple bubble at the bottom of any Help Center page!
