Our service is powered by one of the nation’s largest wireless networks, so with a TextNow SIM card you can use your device even when you're not connected to Wi-Fi! If you're wondering what the service availability is like in your area, you can check the coverage where you live and in the places you frequent most, take a look at our coverage map here.
Using the Coverage Map
Below is an example of what the coverage map might look like when you enter a location in the search bar. You can also enter an address to see a summary of the coverage availability in that spot.
Coverage FAQs
What do I do if the coverage map in my area shows mostly 'No coverage'?
If the coverage map indicates that you live in a no-coverage area, we recommend that you keep using our free Nationwide Talk & Text service over WiFi instead of purchasing a SIM card or a data add-on. This is because we can't guarantee that you'll have the necessary service
What is 'Partner' coverage?'
When you see 'Partner' coverage on the map, that means that there is service in that area provided by another network that we partner with, so you should be able to text and call but we can't guarantee what the coverage strength will because it may vary depending on the network.
Can I use TextNow in a different country?
You can use your TextNow service anywhere in the United States that shows available coverage on the map! Roaming in Mexico is also included on every TextNow wireless plan with an active TextNow SIM card, including the Free plan and Canada roaming is included on the Plus and Unlimited plans. Unfortunately, we currently do not support use outside of North America even over WiFi, with or without a SIM card.
How do I get connected when I cross the border to Mexico or Canada?
Your phone finds a local network on its own, so you should see bars and an LTE or 5G icon within a few minutes. If you’re still not connected after that, turning off automatic network selection and choosing the network manually usually gets you back online.
