To make sure everything runs smoothly, we’re rolling out this upgrade in phases. Some users are getting early access, and soon this experience will be available to everyone.

Why is TextNow upgrading my plan?
We’ve switched carrier partners to give you better coverage and lower data pricing! Upgrading ensures your service works seamlessly with our improved network.
Will it work with my phone?
Only unlocked phones will work on our network. Additionally, for iPhones, your phone must be running iOS version 17.4 or higher. For Android, we recommend running Android 13 or higher for the best experience. If your device is running Android versions 9, 10, 11, or 12 please see the additional activation steps in this article.
How do I get my SIM?
Tap the link in your in-app message to confirm your address. You’ll receive your SIM in the mail in about two weeks, sometimes promotional SIM offers take longer than our regular shipping window.
How do I activate my new SIM?
Your new SIM will come in the mail with simple activation instructions, getting set up only takes a few minutes.
What if I’m already on a monthly plan?
If you are currently using our recurring Month Pass, your billing cycle will reset upon activating your new SIM and you will not be charged. One month from activation, your service will renew on our Unlimited Plan at a reduced price of $35.99/month. Cancel anytime.
If you are not on our recurring Month Pass, you will automatically be connected to our Free Flex Plan which includes free unlimited talk and text, plus 5G data for select apps. For more data, you can add an Unlimited Day Pass or subscribe to our Unlimited Plan with flexible weekly or monthly billing options.
Will I lose my number?
No! You'll keep your existing phone number, along with all of your messages and call history, and it'll automatically connect when you switch to your new SIM.
Will I lose anything else?
You can expect to keep the same number, with more value and zero added hassle. Our Hour Pass will no longer be available, but we’ve introduced weekly billing to our Unlimited Plan and reduced the price of our Day Pass by 40%. Upon activation, our legacy data plans (1GB, 2GB, 5GB, etc.) will no longer be available to you.
Why did I receive an order confirmation email with a $4.99 SIM price?
Don't worry, you won't be charged! Even if your order confirmation shows the regular SIM pricing, we're covering the cost for you to upgrade so you won't see any actual charges.
