If you are getting missed call notifications and your phone doesn't ring There are a few things you can do to try and fix the issue.
Firstly, Make sure you are connected to the internet. WiFi will give you the best and most consistent connection, but if you are using mobile data we would recommend ensuring you are using 4G LTE rather than 3G. The improved speeds will result in a better overall calling experience!
If you have a strong connection already you can also try the following:
- Disable Data saver Mode if enabled
- Ensure that DND settings are not enabled for your device
- Ensure the TextNow app is up to date
- Disable Battery optimization or Power saving Mode
It is also useful to make sure that Background Data Usage is enabled.
To do so on Android, open Settings and go to Apps > TextNow. Tap on "Data usage" or "Mobile data & Wi-Fi". Then make sure that "Background Data Usage" is toggled on.
On iPhone, you can go to Settings > TextNow and make sure that "Mobile Data" is toggled on.
For Android users, clearing the cache can also be helpful when this issue occurs. Clearing the cache does not erase any personal data in the app. You can do this by going to the phone Settings > Apps (Sometimes called Apps and Notifications) > TextNow > Storage > Clear Cache. Please note if you Clear Data this will erase your conversations.
If all else fails the best thing to do is reinstall the TextNow app. The best way to do this would be to go to the app store page for TextNow and uninstall from there, then reinstall when you have the option to do so.
